What kinds of symptoms have people who seek your services usually presenting with: anxiety, sleeplessness, phobias, low mood, lack of control with food, annoying habits or smoking, physical agitation, feeling sick, stress headaches, negative thoughts in their head, years of worry or self loathing
less common: support with finding a voice (feeling unable to talk in stressful situations and withdrawing), anger management issues – shouting, losing control
How might your therapy have helped them: This is an effective form of therapy and my clients report good results..Phobias and anxiety in particular respond really well to CBT and solution focused approaches. I find that psycho education regarding the amygdala and the way thoughts are created, followed by targeted hypnotherapy using the clients own selected affirmations/positive thoughts allows the client to develop their own coping mechanisms. Mindfulness and self hypnosis techniques complete the process by giving them the tools to continue making progress once my treatment stops
When a client has completed all their therapy(s) with you, what do you hope to have changed for them, compared to when you first met them: Their ability to spot negative cognitions, and to use the tools I teach them to take appropriate action. Happier and more confident in their ability to overcome their difficulty. More in touch with their feelings and able to recognise them, feel them but not let them overwhelm them. Able to understand how thoughts occur and attribute them correctly to their source. Making positive changes in their lives which make them happier and better able to cope.
